It’s clear that one of the biggest trends in fashion so far this year is sheer dresses. Celebrities from Kylie Jenner to Hailey Bieber have sported the stylish look recently. We’ve even seen sheer dresses make their way on the runway by designers like Fendi.
Sheer made its debut in fashion during the ‘90s. You may recall Kate Moss’ iconic sheer dress she wore in 1993. With this trend circling back around it’s no surprise that Vogue brought this memory back to life. In November, they reported on Moss stepping out, once again, in a sparkly, sheer dress, reliving fashion history.
If you dare to try the sheer dress trend, here are three ways to style it and what to actually wear underneath.
01. Bralette and Boy Shorts
Solid Lace Sweetheart Maxi Dress
I love how elegant this dress is. It’s similar to the ones seen on the red carpet or worn by celebs on a night out. $16.
Cotton Logo Scoop Neck Bralette
This bralette is great for a sheer dress like the one above. The scoop neck fits perfectly under the neckline of the dress by not poking out at the top. $32.
Soft Smoothing Boy Shorts
If you are looking for more coverage under your dress boy shorts are the way to go. This pair from Skims are seamless which not only makes them comfortable but also allows them to fit well under a dress. $20.
02. Slip Dress
Performer Knit Maxi Dress
This dress gives all the festival vibes. I even love it paired with cowboy boots as seen on the model. $75.
Skinny Strap Seamless Mini Slip
When styling a sheer dress like the one above with a higher neckline, a slip dress would fit under it perfectly. This one is from Free People and has a tighter fit which is best for flowy dresses. $30.
03. Bodysuit
Glory Dress
I love how unique this dress is. If your style is more hyper-feminine, this sheer dress is for you! $83.
Sculpting Body Suit
The bodysuit is a great way to style the sheer dress that is in between options one and two. This one from Skims is perfect if you’re looking for a little more coverage in the back. $62.
