The holiday season is one filled with high-highs and low-lows. For example, the party invites are piling up, while your account balance is quickly going down. Between gifts and travel expenses, there is hardly any left to blow on a whole new wardrobe for the season.
Instead of saying “no” to absolutely everything and spending your break in pajamas and tears, you just have to be smart. It is possible to still stylishly attend every party, get-together and soiree on your agenda.
Check out our five tips on how to look luxe even when you are short on bucks!
1—Fake it until you make it. Real or fake, a little (or a lot) of fur adds an extra dose of glam to any look. Tip: Scour your local vintage shop for an affordable, one-of-a-kid fur piece. (Photo via @denae_belillti)
2—Go versatile. One piece that is surprisingly versatile is the jumpsuit. Depending on how you style it, you can basically wear it to every holiday obligation without feeling over or under dressed. Think about it this way: if you an inexpensive jumpsuit (like this one we love for $25) and wore it to five different events this season, your cost-per-wear is less than your daily latte! 3—Get your NYE look at the drugstore. Don’t have the budget to blow on a brand spanking new dress for NYE? You can totally elevate a LBD you already own simply by making your beauty look sparkle. Head to your drugstore, pick up some metallic eyeshadows and luminizing highlighters for a look that is pure golden for just a little green. (Photo via @queenhalpal)
4—Raid your mom’s closet. Spending time at home over break has its perks. Most notably is the ability to raid your mom’s closet. Ask/beg to borrow nice pieces or family jewelry from her to accent your look for a big budget outfit that costs you all of zero dollars. (Photo via @marianesvaldez)
5—Think globally. French woman just exude elegance. And while you might be all American, infuse a little international style in your look. Berets are a gorgeous accent to any look. Plus, spending a few dollars on this piece now is a smart investment, as berets are going to huge this winter in the trend department. (Photo via @cherileighco)
