At times, the everyday tasks of internships can become mundane. Answer an email, edit an article—it’s all just work, and at times it can be tedious. While most internships are the same day in and day out, Style Gurus know that their position offers an incredible advantage. With a direct connection to the fashion industry and a team working hard to provide students with as many opportunities as possible, Style Gurus have an endless amount of chances to learn and advance their careers before they even graduate college. But with opportunity comes responsibility—so here’s how to make the most of your internship and become a rockstar Style Guru:
1—Make Time to Listen With all of the day-to-day tasks in school, life and internships, taking the time to actually listen to what you’re being told can be more difficult than it seems—yet it’s one of the most important things you can do in an internship. Being a Style Guru means being surrounded by countless smart, hard-working and creative students and professionals; listening to what they say can provide you with more knowledge than you could ever imagine. 3—Don’t Be Afraid to Say Hello Whether you’re thinking about approaching a Fashionista/o on campus or considering sending a message to a CollegeFashionista team member, don’t ever be afraid to say hello. Reaching out to others will forever be the best way to network, meet new people and make friends—what have you got to lose other than your inhibitions? (Photo by @therachelstory)
4—Connect With Fellow Style Gurus While connecting with the CollegeFashionista team and others in the fashion industry is most definitely a plus of being a Style Guru, connecting with your fellow interns is a less obvious advantage—yet still incredibly valuable. 5—Treat Everyone With Respect No matter what internship you’re at, respect at all times is nonnegotiable. Whether you’re dealing with bosses, fellow interns or the receptionist at your office, you should never have a bad thing to say to or about anyone. All of your words and actions are a reflection of you—so make them count. (Photo via @sarahgargano29)
