Ideally, we would never even mention finals, but it’s an approaching reality and we have to address the fashion dilemmas that comes with the upcoming weeks of research papers, exams and studying. Getting dressed each day as the semester comes to a close can be uninspiring, especially if you are studying anywhere that can get quite chilly.
Athleisure will be your best friend in the coming weeks. If you’re like myself, I can’t leave the house in sweatpants, but I also will often get stuck trying to decide which outfit to wear. I have put together five athleisure looks inspired by different trends in cozy-chic—such as oversized sweatshirts, neoprene fabrics and sportswear. Draw your own inspiration for your finals-ready look next week!
Monday
Alright, it’s Monday and you’ve been doing a ton of stuff over the weekend—whether you’re hitting the books or the town. This is your day to take all the fashion liberties you need to get into the groove of the week again. Pair a large, beige Yeezy-inspired sweatshirt with a nice pair of leggings to combat those Monday blues. Adding on a denim vest with your own DIY patches or pins and some eye-catching sneakers will tie the look together. For you bespectacled Fashionistas, ditch the contacts for your glasses—you deserve it.
Tuesday
Time to get back into the game! I have a lot of sports and activewear-related clothing for someone who hasn’t played an organized sport in far too long. Bomber and letterman jackets are a cozy and trendy way to add to your look; I paired mine with a kale T-shirt and my favorite denim skirt. Add some knee-high socks to keep warm and top off this inspirational look for Tuesday.
Wednesday
Wishing it wasn’t Wednesday? Here’s the remedy: sweatpants. Not just any old sweatpants, these ones look like trousers, but are lined sweatpants material. Keep the fancy tracksuit look going by wearing an all-black, sleek hoodie and a beanie for warmth. A pair of adidas runners are always a good call when you’re dashing to class.
Thursday
Go for a classic sporty look by wearing your favorite team’s jersey—I know I will be wearing my Toronto Blue Jays merchandise even into the off-season. To do so, all you need is to layer those light jerseys over a simple turtleneck and pair with your favorite blue jeans. Catch a game later that night with some friends, and you’re already good to go!
Friday
Finally, the week is over! If you have Friday classes, bust out your best mini-skirt to wear with an elegant sweatshirt, a massive scarf and a baseball cap. The skirt featured is made of neoprene; it’s style makes it both casual and elegant at once. Ditch the sweatshirt and add a crop top off your choice before heading out for a day-to-night look.
