College changes us. Personally, I have become the person who walked around my dorm in a big T-shirt and seemingly nothing else. I’m sure my neighbors and the ladies working in the dining hall regularly thought, “Is that girl really not wearing pants to dinner?” The answer is that the world may never know. I think it is time to take this comfy trend out into the world and rock an oversize T-shirt as a statement piece.
Star Wars Chic
This T-shirt was thrifted from a local consignment shop, and it’s probably one of my favorite purchases of all time. It is so fun to wear and reps arguably the greatest movie franchise in history (what’s not to love?).
I dressed up this men’s T-shirt with a miniskirt. It may be a weird combo, but it works! Classic, strappy heels and a simple, black crossbody complete the outfit nicely.
A messy low bun and a wash of color on the lips says I tried, but not too hard. Try adding a bold necklace or some awesome earrings to really amp up the sophistication.
Old Skool Champ
For this next look, emanate cool girl streetwear vibes by pairing a branded T-shirt with skater sneakers. This Champion long-sleeve is so beyond comfortable and practically long enough to be a real dress.
Casual frayed denim shorts keep the fit simple, and the old school Vans are always a solid choice.
Any bag or or hairstyle you please can complement this look. Plus, when you get home after a long day of looking fabulous, you can take off your bra and wear the shirt as a nightgown.
Beach, Please
If you still have reservations about going out in public with strangers potentially thinking you have no pants on, fear not, for I have a look for you. Dip your toes in the water (figuratively and literally), and try using an oversize T-shirt as a swimsuit cover-up.
This adorable floral T-shirt is the perfect item to throw over a suit. I paired it with sandals and a bright fanny pack, but feel free to be a little more subtle if that’s your thing. There’s no wrong way to flaunt an oversize T-shirt, people!
Am I condoning not wearing pants in public? No. Well… maybe. I mean, for me, I like to keep ‘em guessing.
