If you are like 99.9 percent of people, you are trying to kick off 2016 by being healthier. But sometimes living a healthy lifestyle seems like a huge undertaking, especially to the busy college student.
The reality is there are quick and easy things we can all do to incorporate healthier practices into our busy lives. Our friends over at HBFit are constant sources for all things health and fitness related, providing tips and advice that is actually attainable and practical. (Their instagram feed gives us major fit-spiration.)
So we asked them to share their five easy tips for the staying healthy in five minutes or less that even the busiest of college Fashionistas/os can incorporate in their daily lives.
1. Start every day by making your bed.
This is such a simple task that really sets you up for the rest of the day. By taking this time, you have a few minutes to think about upcoming tasks or even listen to your favorite song. There’s also nothing better than jumping into a nicely made bed after a long day!
2. Drink a glass of water before every meal.
Sometimes it’s hard to get in the recommended eight glasses of water each day when you’re busy, but if you drink a glass before each meal then you’re already knocking out three of the eight AND you’ll feel fuller while you eat reducing the likelihood of overeating.
3. Grab a health bar on your way out the door.
When you’ve got a packed day, there isn’t always time to sit down and have a full meal when you’re hungry. By always having a protein or granola bar in your bag, you can quiet a grumbling stomach and have the energy to power through to your next meal.
4. Wash your face and moisturize.
Your face is a blank slate and you want to treat it well! It’s easy to forget when you’re running late in the morning or coming home from a night out to wash your face, but taking these couple of minutes to cleanse and moisturize will pay off in the long run when you see less blemishes and better feeling skin.
5. Stretch after every workout.
Stretching is extremely important and often forgotten when working out solo, so budget the last five minutes of your workout time to thoroughly stretch your muscles. This cuts down on the possibility of injury and increases your overall flexibility.
