I love reaping the benefits of a good, thorough skincare routine. Everything from the glow it gives to wearing less makeup makes me happy. And, it has always been the best ritual as a way for me to relax before bed, but sometimes I simply don’t have the time. With my busy school schedule and extracurriculars, I come home after a long day and I don’t want to put the effort in. If you are feeling anything like me or are looking to up your skincare game, these five simple skincare steps will get you by so that you can feel moisturized, clean, dewy, and glowy on the go.
Drink Some Water
When your organs take water from your blood and use it to hydrate themselves, your blood turns to your skin cells for water. This causes your skin to feel dry and sometimes look dull. In order to feel your best and take care of the largest organ of your body (your skin), drink as much water as you can per day. Water is what I turn to immediately whenever I have a headache, or when I’m feeling stressed, hungry, tired, or sad. All in all, this step is one that has many benefits!
Tone with Facial Spray
On the same topic of hydration, a facial spray is a great way to add instant hydration and glow to your face. Whether you want to cool down on a hot day or refresh your makeup, a facial spray is a perfect booster for any time of the day. You can also use this during any phase of your skincare routine.
Slather on Serum
This step comes after cleansing and before your moisturizer. Varying in price points and in purpose, think about in what ways your skin could use a little love. From there, you can find a serum that can help with dryness, dullness, texture, or blemishes just to name a few. This is one of those simple skincare steps that can make the most effective difference over time.
Exfoliate
Exfoliating is something that can make a huge difference when it comes to the texture and smoothness of your skin and how well your skin can absorb product. Depending on your skin sensitivity level and type, you can use a physical exfoliant or a chemical exfoliant. If you think that exfoliating is what is best for you, consult with a dermatologist or aesthetician to figure out the best way to incorporate exfoliating into your routine. Consulting with experts on this is what makes all the difference for your skin in terms of this simple skincare step!
Cleanse Properly
We’ve all had nights where we have felt too tired to wash our faces. But, this is the step of all steps! If you don’t have a clean slate, your skincare won’t work how it’s supposed to. Or your makeup can sit on your skin and build up (yuck). If there’s one easy way to take care of your skin in the midst of a busy schedule, it’s to always wash your face. From cleansing balms for the heavy duty stuff to simply a makeup wipe, taking the time to wash your face is basically an act of self-care! So do it, and don’t skip it!
