There’s something soothing about walking into a store where the clothes are neatly folded and in perfect size order. Although, it seems that somewhere in this systematic normality that all originality is lost. Before you know it, you’re out at a party wearing the same black lace-up bodysuit as five other girls there—ouch!
It’s true that the best fashion is inspired by that of the previous decades, so why not head right to the source? That’s why this Fashionista ventured beyond the mall to complete her look. This Fashionista tells us that her best finds come from Aloof Newf, a boutique vintage store in New Hudson, Michigan. It’s hard to believe that this beautiful sequins top came from the 1950s, because it seems to fit perfectly in today’s trends (it’s funny how that works). The vertical chevron pattern is not only appealing to the eye, but also flattering, especially how she tucked it into her high waist draped joggers.
I’m usually a follower of wearing only one statement piece at a time, but this Fashionista totally changed my mind! The studded stilettos paired with the sequin top takes her outfit from classic preppy to a whole new level of edgy chic. Also, the way she pinned her hair back in a messy bun allows her gold dangly earrings and daring red plum lips to shine.
All in all, it’s easy to fall into your fashion routine and head to the same three stores. I know I’m guilty of it sometimes! But let this Fashionista inspire you to get out of your fashion comfort zone and head to a vintage or resale shop. You never know what you might find!
