Some people might think a tonal, nearly monochromatic look would be boring or dull. But if you switch up textures and shades, you can easily put together a super chic look that’s not only simple but certainly attention grabbing as well! While out doing some last minute shopping, I saw this awesome Fashionista. It consisted of a uniform, wintery color palette of mostly dark gray and black, but the texture and style differences in the pieces are what makes it glam and exciting. Her pair of velvety, sleek thigh-highs paired with dark gray jeans, a gray ruffled top with a slightly blue-teal tone, a trendy choker, and a cool leather jacket are anything but boring. Although everything goes together because it has those similar cool grayish tones, the fun, luxurious touch of the leather jacket and the glamour of the thigh-highs elevate this look from a basic “groutfit” to a fashion statement. This outfit is perfect for the cold winter months because it can easily transition from holiday shopping downtown (which is where I spotted this fashion maven) to a more nighttime event, like a fancy dinner in the city.
You could replicate this look by choosing your own color palette and taking pieces from your own collection that share similar shades, but differ in texture, shape, and pattern. If you want to kick this outfit up a notch, choose luxurious fabrics and finishes, like velvet, faux fur, leather, or shine/sequins. Overall, you get a cool, cohesive look that is practically effortless!
