Now I do not know about you all, but my mother always told me that black and blue should never be worn together in the same outfit. Maybe she had some war against these colors unbeknownst to us and the rest of world that fueled this vendetta so much so that she felt the need to pass this down to me, I am not sure.
However, what I do know is that this Fashionista has made a traitor out of me! I now realize my mother was wrong in the immediate judgment of black and blue together and instead should have followed these tips! As we see from this Fashionista, mixing black and blue works perfectly when we mix other elements of the clothes as well, such as texture, shades, and accent colors.
We see how the darker shade of the jeans creates a subtle blue and a flow of colors rather than any sharp contrast that would have occurred had the jeans been a lighter shade of blue. The texture of the jeans works well with the knit texture of our Fashionista’s black top. That way there is a distinction that is not too slight, but also not too easily seen. To top it all off she wears hoop earrings and a black choker with golden detailing that both add gold as an accent color to the outfit. So next time you want to wear blue and black, but have no idea how, or your mother is as vengeful as mine, just remember texture, shades, and accents. Thanks to this Fashionista I am no longer against these colors, but am instead a believer and I hope this Fashionista has made a believer out of you all too.
