There’s no doubt about it—this is the time in life that we do the most soul searching. We’re constantly trying to figure out, and being asked by others, who we are and who we want to be. For many, the perfect outlet for expressing themselves is through, you guessed it, fashion. Personal style evolves with us. It changes with our mood, our surroundings, and it never seems to settle.
When this Fashionisto caught my eye, I immediately thought three things: denim, denim, and Chucks. This Fashionisto pulls off an effortless denim on denim look by pairing a light wash denim jacket with dark wash jeans. To break up the ensemble he opts for an olive green crewneck top, striped socks for detail, and his Grandpa’s personal pair of Chuck Taylor’s (i.e. Converse) from the ’60s. It doesn’t get more classic than this.
From meeting classmates at the art museum to grabbing a quick cup of much needed coffee, stay ready for anything by following this Fashionisto’s lead. Simple pieces, when paired creatively, have the power to hint at your, albeit ever changing, personal aesthetic. Appearing cool and casual, this Fashionisto keeps things simple with muted tones and lets his striped socks show (an easy styling trick that has made more than a few appearances on the streets this season).
What fascinated me the most about this Fashionisto was that his personal style was clearly evident. This feeling didn’t solely come from the fact that he wore a denim jacket, a pair of Converse that have seen a lifetime themselves, nor his tortoise frames, but from how he confidently carried himself while in those things. If there’s one thing every Fashionisto/a should understand, it’s that personal style doesn’t just come from the things you wear, but how they make you feel.
