Hello Fashionistas/os! I am writing to you from the comfort of my warm bed, afraid to face the freezing temperature outside. Although it’s the beginning of a fresh, new semester, it is getting hard to remain stylish when the city cold is among us. Or so we think? We’re wrong, because January weather is when an amazing outfit aspect can come into play called layering. Whether you layer to achieve a certain look or to just stay warm, it never hurts to have fresh combinations on hand. So, to ensure you’re set with the coolest ways to layer up this winter, I found an inspiring Fashionista to show you an example. Layering can be done in an abundance of ways. The obvious, sweaters, or even jewelry and hair. This Fashionista’s got all three down, but the focus is keeping warm.
Layering is the perfect excuse to cozy up, but a way to still remain cute. My favorite combinations are pairing oversized sweaters over button downs and cardigans over blouses. Cold feet? Hike up fuzzy socks with your boots. Outfit too bland? Go crazy with jewelry!
My Fashionista is pictured in a thick, oversized sweater from Primark. Over this piece is a faux mink fur bear coat from a Jersey Shore boutique, Lucky Clover, similar to one from Forever 21. Under it all (not pictured), a thermal long sleeve. Classic black, distressed skinny jeans, like a pair from Revolve, were paired up with the tops. For her feet, suede booties by Nine West, just like a pair by Lucky Brand, were laced up over black boot socks. To top off the outfit, a head wrap to keep those ears from frostbite and layered up necklaces were added.
Winter is officially the season of attempting to wear every piece possible from your closest to avoid catching a cold, but no one said we had to look frumpy while doing so. Even though the sun may be shining enough to wear sunnies, the temperature doesn’t match with it, so stay warm and layer up!
