STYLE ADVICE: Happy Feb-YOU-ary!

It’s that awkward time of year again. The period of time where you already debuted your favorite winter pieces and don’t want to invest in new ones because it will be spring before we know it. It’s also that time when you don’t know which clothes to bring back to school for the second semester. For me, this is the funnest time of year. Your creativity gets put to the test and your individuality shines through when there aren’t specific seasonal trends to abide by. It’s Feb-YOU-ary!

This season isn’t completely ambiguous, though. It’s Aquarius season, perfect for these fun-loving, experimental people. The featured Aquarius takes pride in her sign with her simple, chic necklace that speaks for itself. Of course, it’s Valentine’s season too, which we’re reminded of by the subtle, yet bold, red accents on her lips and T-shirt. It’s not obvious whether or not it was intentional in honor of the red-hearts-holiday, and that to me is fashion and beauty well-achieved, making the intentional seem effortless.

Paired with these edgy items, you would never guess that the focal point of this queen’s attire was purchased at a local thrift store, Buffalo Exchange. The T-shirt is a perfect go-to when in need of dressing down an outfit and making it more suitable for the daytime (not that there is anything wrong with rocking all black any time of the day). It definitely requires unconventional thinking to layer it on top of this black mesh top; I always admire a successful combination of comfy and funky.

Every girl needs a surplus of black pants consisting of both leggings and jeans, and this unique pair is a mixture of both; they’re sleek and stretchy. The texture of these shiny, leather pants contrasting with the soft T-shirt and fishnet top immediately catches the eye. Such versatility should be the first priority when picking out items of clothing. It is clearly a priority for this Fashionista—her Jeffrey Campbell shoes are able to seal the deal of any attire.

Although it can be frustrating alternating between winter and spring wardrobes while crafting an outfit during this season, innovation is key. Go ahead and combine your daytime casual and trendy nightlife drawers into one. If there is one thing I learned from living in New York, it’s that regardless of the season, everyday can be turned into a holiday.

Happy Feb-YOU-ary!
