STYLE ADVICE: Job Interview

Preparing for interviews is always nerve-wracking, but don’t let your outfit be what stresses you out! As college students, we are finding ourselves preparing resumés and making sure we sound as interview-ready as possible, but nowadays looking interview-ready is just as important!

This Fashionisto hopes to work in finance, so formal attire is key when going to a big interview. The best way to do so is to take into account the type of interview you may be going to. Usually an interview requires business-casual or formal attire, so always make sure to double check before heading into the office or meeting spot! This Fashionisto definitely looks the part for his business-casual interview.

Navy suits have been a huge trend this year in menswear, so these blue dress pants from H&M pair perfectly with a baby blue and salmon striped button-down from J.Crew. The salmon stripe is subtle but gives the perfect pop to help that interviewer remember you. Another important fashion tip is to never mix your blacks and browns. Your belt and shoes should always be in the same range of color in order to keep the outfit as cohesive as possible. In this case, the shade of brown on his Ferragamo belt is just the right brown to match with his chukka boots by Ben Sherman.

This outfit is a great starting point, and if he wanted to take this outfit and wear it for a more business-formal interview, he could always throw on a matching blue suit jacket and swap out the boots for some brown leather wing-tip dress shoes.
