One of my favorite expressions is “less is more,” because it holds true to many things—fashion being one of them. I love the idea of simplicity in dressing and using small details in an outfit to make a large statement. I feel as though oftentimes, people get distracted by the desire to go above and beyond in fashion and tend to forget the sophistication of simplicity.
This Fashionista mastered the technique of using small details to take a potentially simple outfit to the next level. In my opinion, winter is one of the best fashion seasons. There is so much to do with all of the layering, textures, and materials which is all seen in this Fashionista’s outfit. Let’s start with her top: this sweater is perfect for both layering and adding an interesting detail. The triangle cut-out is perfect for this outfit, it added a hint of edginess to the look so that it wasn’t just the basic black sweater look. The black leather jacket was perfect to top off the sweater. It not only kept her warm but added to the “biker chic” look. The choice of shoe was the icing on the cake for this Fashionista! The snakeskin was the perfect pop of color that the outfit needed, and the cowboy shape emphasized the biker theme she was going for. The jeans that this Fashionista wore had small details of their own that helped the overall look, such as the rip in the knee and zippers on the inside ankles. Last but surely not least, my absolute favorite detail to this outfit were the chopsticks that were added to this cute sloppy bun. This was an unexpected twist for this look that worked oh so well! This small yet bold creative decision added so much to the outfit. It’s clear that this Fashionista fully took on the expression “less is more” because it was the most minute details that completed this look.
So remember Fashionista/os: the next time you’re getting ready for those cold winter days, less is more! Details are so important in a look. Like we saw with this Fashionista, they can make something so simple into a fashionable look. These details can be a variety of things, from hair accessories to embroidery on a coat. Let the minute details do the talking, and make your fashion statement for you this winter and forever more!
