If you’re anything like me, I’m sure you’re anxiously awaiting the new season of Orange is the New Black. However, no matter how entertaining the girls of Litchfield Prison may be, I think it’s safe to say that those orange jumpsuits aren’t the most flattering pieces of fashion we’ve encountered this year. While orange is definitely not the new black, gray, an often over looked color, just might be giving black a run for its money.
Gray monochromatic looks have been all over the runways this fall. From sleek pantsuits to flirty dresses, this trend can’t be missed. While a beige business suit, or an all-black ensemble can be utterly predictable, this all-gray trend brings a fresh new take to the traditional monochromatic look. Not to be confused with the notorious “grout-fit,” an all-gray outfit, when done right, is a sure fire way to look ultra-chic this fall.
This Fashionista wears the perfect example of how effortlessly stylish this trend can be. By mixing patterns and textures, her look is far from boring. The detailing on her shorts brings a focal point to the outfit so the simple color palette doesn’t seem too monotonous, and all of the shades of gray look unified in the look. She kept the rest of the outfit simple, but added a statement necklace to spice it up a little. While it may seem daunting to create an ensemble in just one color, if you follow this Fashionista’s lead, your look will be totally eye-catching.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I love wearing all one color, especially a neutral one like gray. That way, I can add fun accessories like a bold lipstick or a cool necklace, and not look too overdone.”
