As of late, I’ve been into minimalism. Aside from my cotton candy hair of course, I have been leaning more towards simple outfits, focusing on neutrals and tailored details. While I refuse to give up my love of patterns and color, incorporating minimalism into my wardrobe arsenal definitely saves time in the morning without sacrificing my certified Fashionista/o status.
When I’m having a hard time deciding on my look of the day, I quickly realize that I’m overthinking it. Instead of expertly mixing patterns, the standout element of an outfit can easily be a play on shapes, textures and proportions—fit is everything. When I think about how the advertising executives of Mad Men dress, honestly, aside from the occasional pair of suspenders, there’s nothing particularly unique about their gray, black or navy suits. The classic attention to detail in the tailoring of the suits is what makes the looks, and not the suits themselves.
This Fashionisto is wearing the casual equivalent of a Mad Men-esque “suit” in all of its perfectly tailored, denim glory. I’m a huge fan of mixing denim together and an even bigger fan of topping a denim ensemble off with classic accessories, like a fedora and leather shoes. He completes the look with a necklace from H&M.
