Over the past year, I’ve noticed that my wardrobe has been wiped of prints, patterns and bright colors, and now consists mostly of neutral colors and minimal embellishments. Black is my go-to color, but I will admit I could definitely use a splash of color in my wardrobe. Over the course of the semester, I am going to try to continue branching out with my wardrobe, this time with brighter colors and prints.
This Fashionista does a great job of mixing neutral colors with a fun, colorful print. She pairs a printed green and purple top with brown pants. She adds edge with a leather accented overcoat and matching black leather booties. She embellishes simply with a small necklace, a large tote purse and a pair of sunglasses. Overall, all the colors in her outfit complement each other. The print in her shirt adds a touch of softness while the leather accent in her coat makes the look cutting-edge. The print in her blouse draws attention without being overwhelming. The purple and green in her shirt stand out without looking out of place. Also, I am a big fan of the mix of black and brown in this outfit. Usually, I am not a fan of the combination, but this Fashionista pairs the two colors effortlessly. Overall, I love the look.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I’m all about mixing some staple, more expensive items with trendy, cheaper items. A winter coat and black tote are things worth spending some more on so you can keep them forever. Tops can go in and out of style in a flash, so pick trendier, fun items.”
