In my Style Guru Bio, I shared one of my go to style secrets: a black monochromatic look. This easy look is a great way to dress up an everyday outfit, but can sometimes fall a little flat. To make this look a perfect ten, you must accessorize in order to add a little pizzazz. This New Orleans Fashionista made her monochromatic look stand out with perfectly picked accessories, and I’ll break it down piece by piece for you.
This Fashionista started with a black off-the-shoulder romper, similar to this one, from Topshop. The Bardot top is a huge trend this summer because it is a cute way to keep cool and the unique neckline lets you show off a little shoulder. Rompers are the perfect way to dress up with minimal effort; no need to coordinate a top with some bottoms because they’re all in one!
The energy saved from not having to coordinate the outfit can be channeled into picking out the perfect accessories! Our Fashionista paired this look off with delicate pieces of silver jewelry. Her various rings are all vintage and from around the world, but the same look can be achieved by finding a few simplistic and coordinating rings, like these, from BingBang NYC. The necklace in this look is similar to the current choker trend, but is perhaps a more comfortable alternative. One of my favorite pieces from this look is her bracelet, a gift from her boyfriend when he went to Paris. I love to find non-tacky souvenirs that can remind you of your favorite places whenever you wear them.
This Fashionista finished off this look with adorable shoes and a killer bag. She added the perfect amount of pattern to her look with the snakeskin block heel shoes and studded black leather hobo bag. To add a little pop of color, she tied a Yves Saint Laurent scarf onto her bag.
