Who misses the days of wearing the same plaid skirt uniform every day to school? Or how about those matching plaid Christmas dresses you and your sister had when you were little? One thing I know is that after eight years of wearing a plaid skirt every day, I didn’t think that I would ever venture into wearing plaid ever again. But with that being said, I will admit I was very wrong. Plaid is back in style and just in time for the winter season. One thing that I love about this print is that it can look so different depending on the color; it really makes an outfit stand out. From tartan to glen to check plaid, you can create totally unique looks.
Nothing is easier than tying a comfy plaid flannel around a basic long sleeve T-shirt and jeans, throwing on some booties and going to class. This is one of my ultimate go-to’s that never seems to fail. It is an outfit that looks like it took a lot of effort, when really you can roll out of bed, be out the door quickly and look both casual and cute. Another article of clothing I love are plaid blanket scarves. They are extremely warm and also very cute over any basic colored T-shirt or sweater you have hanging in your closet. And yes—the plaid skirt. Think about a plaid pencil skirt with a jean shirt, tucked in, along with a statement necklace or a pleated plaid skirt with a black turtleneck, black tights and booties—adorable. I cannot wait to try out some of these looks this season.
What I love most about this Fashionista’s outfit is that her plaid puffer vest instantly dresses this outfit up and creates a preppy look, especially paired with her oversized pearl earrings. This vest is able to make a fashion statement with its deep colors and its peplum-style back. From her royal blue purse to those trendy Hunter Boot green ankle boots, she definitely is ready to take on the fall and winter months. Wearing a neutral colored sweater under the vest not only highlights the darker colors in this outfit, but also accentuates the plaid and her accessories. Dark wash jeans or light wash jeans could easily be worn with an outfit like this, whichever is your personal favorite.
Lastly, adding another preppy touch to her look, this Fashionista showed me her gorgeous gold bracelets. My favorite is the dainty gold one engraved with the coordinates of her house. While away at school, this is a constant reminder of home. There are many sites that sell personalized jewelry that you can make your own. It’s such a charming idea for Christmas this year, special gifts for friends and family.
