With fall just around the corner and Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week upon us, there’s a chance to incorporate many new trends coming out for next year! There’s also an opportunity to embrace a simplistic trend that’s been happening for centuries.
Recently, Givenchy showcased their spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection in New York. The collection had a variety of black and white pieces with lace, wraps and lots of embroidery details.
The all-black look can be labeled as many things from gothic to chic. People have a love/hate relationship with the one-colored look, but in the end, the single color look triumphs every fall despite the usual red, orange and green.
An all-black outfit is perfect for every season! The dark shade goes well with any accessory or combination of color. This Fashionista decided to wear a pleated dress with a translucent top and using a black bralette underneath. It can even take a hint of makeup to bring the outfit all together.
This Fashionista made her look simple by pairing her outfit with a faux leather cross-body purse, dress shoes and a hint of a burgundy on her lips and nails. The top half of her dress provides a hint of color with it’s white lace collar. The ring and watch gives a simplistic look to the all-black attire.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Know how to straddle the line between old-fashioned and modern/daring with an outfit like this. The lace collar, shoulder pads and long skirt make the pieces kind of dated, but by wearing only a bralette and spandex instead of a slip under the sheer dress adds a bit edginess to it. I think that’s kind of the key for making old pieces like that look instantly rejuvenated.”
