“Florals…for spring? Groundbreaking.” I know. I know. We have all seen The Devil Wears Prada and we have all heard about florals being the best trend for spring. But there is a reason for the popularity of this on-going trend that occurs every year. As the grass get a little greener, the birds start singing, the sun peaks out to shine and the flowers start to bloom not only our moods but our wardrobes get a fresh start. Maybe it is the miraculous change in weather that leaves people steering away from dark colors and warm layers to backless dresses, bold colors and most of all floral patterns. But is this really such a bad thing? I surely don’t think so but the real question is: do you know the proper way to wear them?
The truth of the matter is there isn’t one right way. But there is a way that steers away from the sarcastic “groundbreaking” ideal of the trend. A way that makes them bold, new and different each year.
So how does one do it? Check out this Fashionista’s look for one of many ways. By pairing a cute floral patterned backless shift dress with an oversized army jacket, maroon rain boots and a tassel necklace this outfit is reinvented and right on-trend. Whether it is a rainy day, like ours here in New York, or sunny and 75 degrees, this outfit can easily be transitioned for the ups and down of spring weather. And that’s why I love florals! Because everyone can wear them and they can be worn with anything and still give an outfit that aspect of creativity, sense of fun and warmth!
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t let the weather get in the way of dressing cute. Even if it is gray and raining outside that doesn’t mean your outfit has to look the same. A simple cute dress with a pair of good Hunter rain boots is perfect for rainy spring days.”
