STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Americana Stunna'

With the sound of Fourth of July fireworks still ringing in our ears and our fingers a little sore from live tweeting every goal Carli Llyod made, you could say we’re still basking in the patriotism of last weekend (especially that guy in the bald eagle mask at the Women’s World Cup).

In celebration of the grand U.S. of A., now is a perfect time for a little Americana addition to your usual summer ensemble. Have a killer pair of red, white and blue sneakers you’ve been itching to bust out? Maybe a classic pair of patriotic shorts?

No matter your personal style, the colors of our banner never go out of fashion! Mix all three hues like this Fashionisto for an on-trend (and incredibly festive!) look. If you’re intimidated by mixing bright primary colors, opt for more muted hues or have denim play the role of bold blue when paired with red.

Still afraid you’ll end up resembling Uncle Sam’s weird uncle? Play it safe by taking on a more nautical look with dark navy and other blue hues pay homage to Independence Day while still playing it on the safe side. If you choose to forgo the stars and stripes, try a chambray short with sailor stripes or a patterned button-up for a quirky addition to a laid back outfit (as well as a salute to the USA!).

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “My favorite thing to wear during the summer is a short sleeve button-up shirt. It’s a great weight for the hotter days, and the striped pattern has The Beach Boys kind of feel to it.”
