This Spring Break, I made my way from sunny Texas to chilly Philadelphia. I was excited to explore new trends and styles that I do not get to come across down south. It wasn’t a surprise to me that the trends seen in the south differ so much from the north due to the drastic change in weather. One trend that stood out to me while up north was the “backwards” layering of coats and jackets. At first, I thought the look was odd (mostly because it rarely gets cold enough for layers in Texas), but the more I saw Fashionistas and Fashionistos rocking it, the more I grew to love it.
Trench coats are a major trend this season, but I love this Fashionista’s black and leather duster. It is one of my style favorites. Underneath, this Fashionista paired her duster with a green, long sleeve kimono. The kimono-duster pair brings what this Fashionista called “asymmetrical layers.” The kimono brings a pop of color to her otherwise monochromatic ensemble. This Fashionista said that she wanted to maintain a look composed of neutral elements and colors. The duster and kimono were paired with a white V-neck T-shirt, black leather mini skirt and black tights. She finished the ensemble with a pair of black booties. This Fashionista kept her accessories minimal, opting for a gold watch, black and silver bangles, a pendant necklace and cat-eye winged sunglasses.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “When it comes to personal style, don’t think too seriously about it. Just remember to have fun. Fashion is what you make of it.”
