As finals are over and everyone begins to head back home for holiday, life becomes simple and less stressful. Whenever I think of winter, it reminds me of hot chocolate and curling up by the fireplace. This is the perfect time to head back to the basics. Cozy knits and oversized sweaters are classic staples, almost as essential as UGGs and Wellies. Winter fashion doesn’t have to be complicated. After all the hard work put into the semester, we would want our winter look to be as effortless as possible. As the Arizona weather doesn’t quite allow for an entire winter ensemble, the desert does cool down enough for everyone to get cozy. It’s perfect because it allows Fashionistas a chance to show off their style without drastic winter weather getting in the way.
In this look, she wears a periwinkle, oversized sweater paired with lighter wash jeans and classic Converse. This Fashionista made the outfit pop by completing it with dainty, layered necklaces. The entire outfit is simple and has all the basic necessities of a cozy winter look. Her sweater perfectly captures Arizona winter since everything is cheerful and bright. Denim and Converse are timeless basics, the perfect foundation to build a great outfit. Adding a little bit of gold dresses up the outfit and gives it dimension.
To wrap up this semester, I wanted to take it back to the basics because when in doubt, it is the perfect place to start. Starting with the basics provides a strong foundation to build and reflect upon, especially with the new year approaching rapidly. There is always a lot to learn and occasionally it takes looking back to move forward. Keep it simple and do not be afraid to be a little basic.
