One of the benefits of living in Southern California is that even when it’s “winter,” you don’t need to worry about layering or having to wear a ginormous coat to keep from freezing. So, it’s a lot easier to stay warm while staying stylish. That’s exactly what this Fashionista was able to do when she stepped out on the scene (aka campus) in a clean, chic ensemble.
Her outfit includes a simple pair of blue jeans with black buckled, chunky heel boots, but what really makes this look stand out is the textured pastel pink peplum shirt under a white blazer. Blazers have been growing in popularity for a while and this is a trend that won’t be fading any time soon. It instantly gives someone a classic, fashionable look with ease. This Fashionista’s blazer kicks things up a notch by adding some flavor with the black trimming. Then, she accessorized with a jeweled necklace and a pair of earrings that hold a special meaning to her because they were a Christmas gift from her boyfriend who’s in the Coast Guard and currently lives thousands of miles away.
Out of all the possible Fashionistas/os I saw walking around the campus, she really stood out with her upbeat stride and confident demeanor. Although she likes to make an outfit her own, she is still inspired by some of her favorite celebrities and TV show characters. She related this particular outfit to her favorite characters on Pretty Little Liars, noting that Spencer would wear the blazer and Hannah would wear the peplum. The combination of their styles made this an ideal outfit.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Something has to be emphasized. If I’m in a plain top, then I need to wear cute bottoms that stand out or the other way around. Some days I feel edgier and that’s when I go with bolder makeup or something like that. Other days, I feel girlier. It all depends on my mood, but either way, something needs to be eye-catching.”
