The legendary Coco Chanel once said, “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” Now it’s safe to say that absolutely no one can argue with one of the classiest women in the history of fashion. For the longest time, I’ve always been the girl who likes simple, elegant clothing and who never goes overboard with what she wears. But let’s just say that there are certain accessories that do not deserve to be taken off. One prime example of these? Belts… obviously belts.
Not going to lie here–but in the past, I absolutely hated belts. To me, they were just too boring and plain and I couldn’t think of reasons for incorporating them into my outfits, other than just to hold my pants up if they were just a tad bit big on me (oopsie). Recently, however, belts have become the perfect piece for adding that extra final touch to any outfit. Designers have come out with beautiful designs that Fashionistas and Fashionistos are drooling over and can’t wait to add to their collections (can I please own one of those new two-buckle belts? Please, pretty please?).
Depending on the type of belt and the way you incorporate it into an outfit, it can either dress your look up or down. This Fashionista’s look is–and allow me to stress this–on point. She’s wearing a simple, wide-legged black jumpsuit that’s incredibly versatile and easy to style. She’s added a beautiful black Hermes belt which dresses up the look and accentuates her body shape, as well as the overall shape of the jumpsuit. Her strappy black heels and minimal accessories complement the look perfectly, since they do not retract any attention from the belt which is literally the center of attention. And as for her gorgeous mirror sunglasses? I’m obsessed. Simply obsessed.
This look is perfect and super flattering for going out, as the belt makes such a simple jumpsuit even more gorgeous and formal. Way to go, girl.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t be afraid to experiment with accessories like belts, as they can completely change the look of an outfit and take it from a five to a 10. Just belt it out!”
