As the temperature drops, it’s easy to slip on our favorite sweatpants underneath all those protective layers. But there’s no need to sacrifice a good outfit in the name of snow. In fact, I think that the wintertime is the best time for fashion. More layers means more clothes. Fur, tweed, wool and leather—bring on the textures because you can never have too many.
This Fashionista kept warm and cozy while still looking super cute with an all-black palette full of different textures. The first thing that caught my eye was her chic wool coat, which is obviously practical. It’s a classic piece that you can’t go wrong with this winter. The loop buttons and fur hood kept it from being just another black jacket, and it allowed lots of room for layering.
Keeping warmth in mind, she tucked a simple black sweater into this versatile skirt, which instantly dresses up the outfit with its sleek shape and simple pinstripes. The tights and knee-high leather boots combo is one of my favorites for this time of year. It looks so put together, but you can totally wear your crazy Christmas fuzzy socks underneath and nobody has to know.
But the main event of the ensemble goes to this beautiful faux fur vest, a trendy staple this fall and winter that instantly makes an outfit cozier. Leggings, boots and a sweater on a casual day? Long sleeve tight dress for your night out? You can’t go wrong with a little touch of fur. A vest is the perfect amount if you don’t want to commit to a full coat. This Fashionista’s coat is vintage, but you can find a similar one here.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Sometimes mixing textures is the best way to accessorize. The monochromatic look is best with just little bit of sparkle. Let the clothes be the starring role. You can’t layer with fur all the time!”
