I’ve come to realize that fashion is the greatest form of self-expression. Our sense of style is influenced by the place we call home, the things that excite us and the ways in which we spend our time. In the same ways that our personalities are sculpted by moments in our lives, our sense of self-expression is also influenced by a compilation of life experiences.
This Fashionista relies on her wardrobe to make a statement about who she is and where she’s been. As a Los Angeles native that ventured on to a new adventure in the Pacific northwest, she’s merged her city-inspired street style with her emerging interest in the bohemian spirit of Portland, Oregon.
Her approach to style is simple, yet it is executed so elegantly. Today she’s rockin’ an off-white off-the-shoulder romper from Fringe by Dali, a small boutique in Huntington Beach, California. This Fashionista notes her interest in avoiding mainstream stores as she prefers to shop at thrift stores and small boutiques to develop a look that is all her own.
The flowy vibe of her cute and comfy romper is complemented by a trendy black felt hat from a street stand on NW 23rd street in downtown Portland. Her sunglasses, which she purchased from a garage sale, add a sweet taste of summer to her outfit. The ’70s inspired look of her sunglasses also complement the romper and her dainty turquoise necklace from Tiffany & Co.
I love that this Fashionista defines her sense of style on her own terms. Her ability to combine popular trends with her own twist to create a look that is so unique alludes to her gift of taking something simple and making it beautiful.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Always go for pieces that are easy and simple but trendy and cute. There’s nothing better than achieving a level of comfortability while still being fashionable.”
