Walking the streets of Paris, whether going to class or just reveling in the city’s beautiful charm, for every one or two fashionable people I always spot someone donning a hat with chic leather boots combo. I’ve noticed that this uniform of a hat, structured coat with a scarf tied fabulously around the neck and a pair of stylish leather booties seems to be the trend in Paris instead of the storied Breton stripes look. Hats are a very popular trend here in Paris, unlike the exclusive reputation it has in the States, where many Fashionistas love the trend, but are secretly afraid to rock it on the streets. Hats seem to be reserved for the bravest of Fashionistas back across the pond, but Parisians of all style influences wear their love affair with hats on a daily basis.
When I spotted this  Fashionista, my theory of the hat love affair in Paris was validated. She fabulously rocked the vintage-boho-effortlessly Parisian vibe with a well-structured coat and a cute pair of distressed denim jeans. To add dimensions to the look, she chose a royal blue scarf to contrast the black color of the jacket and layered a light colored chiffon top under the coat. For the details, the maroon shade of her hat added a nice splash of color to the muted tones and the leather accents of her boots and bag.
If you are questioning your confidence to rock a hat for any occasion, make like a Parisian and just go for it! The worst that can happen is getting stares of admiration for your boldness to rock such a visible trend.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “My style advice of the week is don’t follow any magazine rule that tells you dress your size. Dress how you love to feel; if you feel good, wear it and if you don’t feel good, don’t wear it. That’s the only rule that applies.”
