With the fall season quickly approaching, Fashionistas everywhere are mentally and physically preparing their closets for a new wardrobe of fresh styles and trends. The biggest trend taking (or should I say re-taking) the streets by storm is the ‘70s. The ready-to-wear fall 2015 runway shows were overflowing with long denim skirts, flared bottom pants, color-blocking mini dresses and corduroy jackets featured in colors like caramel, mustard, rose, navy and indigo. I don’t know about you but I am in love. Fall is the best season for style, I believe, because it really puts your fashion abilities to the test. You are forced to layer clothes and patterns alike. It can also be a tough season for those with a paler skin tone who can seem overwhelmed by all the dark colors. You really have to know your palette and dress accordingly.
One of my favorite colors highlighted for the upcoming autumn is mustard. This warm yellow may seem very exotic but in fact is very versatile. Depending on what colors you accessorize, mustard can seem either bohemian or luxurious. This week’s Fashionista takes luxurious mustard to a whole new level. She is pictured wearing a plain mustard cap-sleeve playsuit. What adds flair to a normally ordinary outfit is her bold accessories. Her houndstooth tote from Longchamp is sophisticated and chic. Paired with a classic black pump, the look transforms into a sleek and upscale outfit. A simple gold watch on her wrist and a black and white statement necklace polish up her outstanding get-up. This Fashionista is ready for her entire day. She can go from boardroom to girls’ night out without skipping a beat. So fabulous!
Mustard is the must-have color this fall. Whether you add it just in your accessories or throw it into one of your looks, it is a color worth wearing. Any type of yellow gives off a positive and confident air to the wearer and those around him/her. Steal the room’s attention this fall, and don’t be afraid to ask, “Can I have a little mustard with that?”
