When you buy a Roberto Cavalli, you’re paying through your teeth for the exotic prints. Minimalism and modesty are not concepts readily incorporated into his pieces; nevertheless, he has managed to rise to one of the A-list designers of our era. Still, despite his renown in the fashion world, one can’t help but wonder if indeed prints are the way to go.
No offense to Cavalli (I, personally do love his work as art), but in many cases, minimalism triumphs. This Fashionista sported a loose white V-neck T-shirt paired with an equally as loose skirt. The black and white color scheme plus the casual cuts reflect not only her easy going personality but also the incessant necessity to just lay back and relax for the day.
In urban environments, we have enough patterns and distractions to supply our need for visual heaviness. Skirts don’t always need to be form fitting. Shirts, don’t need to be revealing. Throw on a pair of sunglasses and you’ve got a complete look! What can be a better way to stand out than to contradict the busyness of the city with something breezy and casual? I walked with this Fashionista down Houston and believe me when I say she turned many heads. Perhaps it was because she gave off an aura of lightness that is so rarely found in the streets, alleys and concrete buildings of this city. It’s magnetic, really.
