When you’re stuck between finding an outfit that makes you look nice while feeling comfortable, the solution is casual wear. Casual can be defined as something relaxed, occasional, not planned or informal. Popular casual pieces include basic T-shirts, leggings and plaid shirts. A majority of the students on campus who dress casually often arrive to class in knee high boots, jeans and a basic shirt. Casual wear is very popular in winter fashion, because it gives you many options to layer with. This Fashionista featured in this week’s STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK mixes different patterns to liven up her casual wear and make her feel dressed up.
This Fashionista is wearing a blue plaid shirt and black skinny jeans while accessorizing with a leopard infinity scarf, a vertical striped tote bag and beige booties that complement her scarf. Her scarf dresses her outfit up, while her plaid shirt gives a more laid-back feel to her overall look. Wearing too much pattern wasn’t a concern for this Fashionista, as she told me, “The more color my outfit has, the more I can have fun with it.”
This outfit acts as a daytime to casual nighttime look. By mixing and matching the accessories with different pieces, you can create an entirely different theme for the outfit. So, while this Fashionista’s ensemble is appropriate for class, by switching the plaid, jeans and tote bag for a little black dress, this Fashionista is ready for a night out.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK?: “Have fun with the patterns. The more color the better, in my opinion. I have always loved wearing an infinity scarf with any outfit I put together.”
