If you’ve been paying attention to the popular fashion bloggers and reading up on trends, then you know the choker is making a comeback. But if you’re like me, when you first hear the word “choker” you automatically think of the ‘90s black stretchy choker everyone wore in elementary school. I found a Fashionista that wasn’t afraid to take a risk and rock a choker.
In her trendy look, this Fashionista let her black, gold and white choker stand out against what I call a “blank slate” outfit—a black tank and distressed jean shorts. The black lets the white and gold of the choker stand out. The edgy vibe of this Fashionista’s look is continued with her black booties. Her shorts are my favorite part of her outfit (besides the choker, of course) because they make her look more casual. With booties, it is perfect for a night out with your girlfriends, but switch them out for black leather sandals, and this Fashionista has a look casual enough for brunch or shopping with your mom.
Although this Fashionista paired her bold choker with a more simple outfit, chokers look great with many different styles of clothing. Pair a choker that has natural stones with printed dresses for a more boho look, or throw on silver choker with a flannel shirt and converse for a real nod to the ‘90s fashion.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I love to be trendy, and I think jewelry is an easy way to elevate your outfit. This choker takes my look to the next level, and they are easier to style than you would think! Just pair one with any outfit you would wear a shorter necklace with.”
