With school back in session, campus is finally alive again. Right now everyone is busy running from class to class. I’ve noticed that students are either dressed like it’s still the middle of summer or as if they can’t wait for fall. The transition into fall is super slow and steady. While walking on campus, I luckily spotted a Fashionisto coming from class sporting a cool outfit.
He was wearing a long beige T-shirt and slim fit pants, but had some accessories to make it even better. He had on a Supreme hat and UNIQLO beaded bracelets. He could have kept his day plain with just his top and pants, but his decision to add a few more things made a huge difference.
Some people might think too many accessories are overwhelming but I think if it expresses the person and adds a pop of color or detail, they should do it. There are days where I wear a very casual outfit but sometimes I add on a baseball hat, earrings, a clip to my hair, or a necklace. The accessories are not there to distract my outfit, but to accentuate and highlight the great parts of my clothes.
Whatever decision we end up making with our outfits, I think we should be proud. We’re so bold for our self expression every day. When I shop the first thing that comes to mind is will I feel comfortable wearing this? This summer, while I held a retail sales associate position, I would always tell customers that they should consider comfort and whether or not it makes them feel confident.
When we wear comfortable clothes that also make a statement it can show off our personality and help us focus on our priorities. With fall right around the corner, I’m excited for layering up and adding on thick scarfs and beanies again. Stocking up on transitional pieces and accessories right now isn’t such a bad idea. Time to go shop!
