Yves Saint Laurent hit the nail on the head when he said, “I wish I had invented blue jeans. They have expression, modesty, sex appeal and simplicity.” Denim has made a huge surge in trends lately, resulting in nonstop demand for the classic blue fabric. Whether it’s a tattered pair of boyfriend jeans, a crisp chambray shirt or a little denim dress (LDD), Fashionistas/os everywhere just can’t seem to get enough of it.
At Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week, denim made strong appearances in the fall 2015 ready-to-wear collections from Banana Republic, Tom Ford and Madewell. The trend continued to prove its longevity in the fashion world, dominating the Greg Lauren and See by Chloé spring 2016 runway shows. It is no surprise that denim of all washes and forms has earned a spot as a fall staple in everyone’s wardrobe. Its versatility allows it to adapt seamlessly to a range of styles—classic, edgy, rustic, vintage—you name it; denim will work.
This Fashionista embraced the trend head-on by making her light wash skinnies the focal point of her outfit. Even though her American Eagle Outfitters jeans are lightly distressed with slits on the knees, they still give off a polished vibe because of their snug fit. She kept the look simple yet chic with a half-tucked Brandy Melville T-shirt and textured Free People ankle booties, which accentuate her mile-long legs. Besides, you can never go wrong with the color black. Her black top forms a striking contrast with the light wash denim and her bright blonde waves. To take the look from casual to effortlessly glamorous, she threw on an intricate silver arm cuff, black cat eye sunglasses and a bold fuchsia lip. In short, this stunning Fashionista gives off some serious model-off-duty vibes.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Keep it simple. A T-shirt and jeans with the right accessories is effortless and always in style.”
