Okay, Mother Nature. We’ve absolutely had enough of this weather. In fact, us Northeasterners have asked these questions more times than we’ve asked for pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks to be year-round: When is spring actually going to come? Are we forever stuck in this tundra? Will we be wearing Patagonia jackets into mid-July? Alas, a note to those pondering Fashionistas out there: don’t fear the freeze. Although I understand the frustration of the sleet, cold weather provides us the opportunities for unique styles that are exclusive only to the winter season.
This Fashionista, in midst of the flurries of course, exemplifies chic winter style on her way to class. Although L.L.Bean boots and North Face jackets have become the unofficial uniform of the Providence College campus, this fashionable figure strays away from the norm with an all black ensemble: all-black peacoat, leggings, knee-high boots and well, all-black everything (obligatory Lupe Fiasco reference, anyone?). As I’ve mentioned before in the past, an all-black look, although awesome on its own, instantly becomes more interesting with the combination of some color or pattern. This Fashionista, for example, pairs a vibrant blue and green plaid scarf along with a candy apple red Longchamp bag.
This has been one long winter; we can all agree. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel and subtle hints of spring are closer than we think. Namely, this Fashionista’s final accessory of a turquoise stone necklace is the perfect reminder of the April showers and May flowers.
