STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Don't Pack Away the Dresses

Although dresses may be associated with warm and sunny summer days, they shouldn’t be packed away as soon as the weather starts to get a little chillier. There are awesome ways to make dresses and skirts wearable all year long!  The key to being able to rock a dress in fall or winter is to layer.

In order to transition your dresses from warm seasons to cold seasons, you have to add a couple of pieces from your closet.  The easiest addition is a cardigan or sweater.  Slipping into a cardigan or pulling on a sweater over your dress will make it completely appropriate for colder temperatures.  As for covering up the legs, you can throw on a pair of tights, patterned or plain, with pretty much any skirt or dress.  A pair of boots or booties will look adorable and keep your feet a little warmer.  When winter rolls around, simply add a coat and scarf to the outfit, and you’ll be toasty enough to brave the weather and head outside.

This Fashionista took the layering advice and created a super cute and functional outfit.  Her black and floral dress matches perfectly with the black, knit cardigan.  She paired the dress and cardigan with knee-high, lace-up boots.  As for accessories, she added a long, tassel necklace and a small, black backpack.  All together the look is perfectly layered, and incorporates dark colors with a little pink accent that fits in with the current season.

So, my advice to everyone as we move forward into colder days is to keep some of those spring and summer pieces in your closet and turn them into new (and warmer) outfits!
