STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Don't Worry, Be Happy

Fashion. What does that word mean to you? Does it mean how you’re supposed to dress? I find myself obsessing over what I should wear and what people would think if I wore this or that. I think fashion should be whatever you want it to be. Of course, there will be always be the standard fashion that everyone likes and that most people wear. But why not be different every once in awhile? Why not take a chance and do something that you’ve really wanted to do for months? Why not dye your hair blue and throw on an outfit that just makes you happy?

I see this Fashionista around campus every now and then and I’m always inspired by what she’s wearing. First of all, I’ve never seen her bumming it with sweats and a messy bun before. That’s serious commitment to looking good. But most of all, she’s got her own style that makes my heart so happy. This Fashionista wears what makes her happy and looks amazing doing it. Today, I caught her in a neon windbreaker and some moon boots. Dark colors have always been a winter staple, however the pre-fall 2015 runways have been showing a ton of color. Dior has shown a few coats in color and Fendi, royalty in the color and texture worlds, has brought out shockingly bright and beautiful colors for the fall and winter seasons.

This Fashionista wears her colorful coat beautifully with a pair of white moon boots and a graphic T-shirt. She’s got her own style that will always stand out and be an inspiration to me to take chances and not worry so much about being perfectly fashionable.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t be afraid of color in the winter! A bright color in a coat or even accessories can brighten up a dreary, snowy day in no time.”
