Personally, floral is always one of my favorite types of prints. I wear it all year long and on anything from sweaters to denim. However, I am aware of the fact that some Fashionistas do not share my fondness for this feminine print. Some people think it’s something only their grandmother should wear and some people think it’s just too girly. I’m here to tell you (and show you, as demonstrated by today’s Fashionista) that floral should not be limited! Don’t deprive yourself of this fabulous type of print simply because you are stereotyping it! Hello, we are in the 21st century!
Today’s Fashionista rocked a lovely floral dress (I admit, I might be biased because I happen to own this dress, too) on a breezy spring day. A dress that may have ordinarily been deemed as super girly ended up being styled in an edgy way. The dress itself was not overly girly to begin with—it was pink, green and black. This Fashionista wore a pair of short, black biker boots to give her ensemble a tougher look. If you want to get the same edgy feel with a flirty touch, you could wear heeled boots instead. Black thigh-high socks covered her legs and allowed just a little bit of skin to show between the top of the socks and the bottom hem of the dress. This Fashionista’s look was complete with a cool pair of sunglasses and a pop of red, in the form of lipstick.
When it comes to dress patterns, floral is very popular. If you’re not a huge fan of floral and not sure how you feel about creating a flowery look of your own, definitely take note from today’s Fashionista. Floral certainly does not have to be overly feminine. You can pair a floral dress, top or sweater with edgier clothing pieces and accessories to achieve a look that incorporates flowers but is not over the top.
