Nothing says “I match with everything” more than a neutral article of clothing. What’s even better is the fact that you can wear as many neutrals as possible and still put together a simple but chic look without looking too bland. Don’t believe me? Take it from the spring/summer 2016 fashion shows this year who had Earthy tones and neutrals. These colors create a stable foundation for any ensemble and add softness and subtlety too all wardrobes.
Among all of the Earthy tones seen during New York Fashion Week, including greens, taupes and the like, green was the most prominent of the mix. In particular, the 3.1 Phillip Lim show blew up his runway with this color. Accessories were minimal and the focus was kept on the neutrality and simplicity of the outfits. This Fashionista seems as though she walked right off the runway, donning an olive green corduroy button-up skirt and a plain white long sleeve. Her choice of Earthy and neutral tones allowed her to match the outfit with a patterned Louis Vuitton backpack, which also was a neutral brown.
My favorite feature of this Fashionista’s look is her use of lace and ties. She went full-on DIY and created a maroon bolo tie, which is just about the coolest thing ever. Shoes were of course a neutral beige, but this Fashionista took it to the next level and paired her outfit with two-toned ones. The lace up detail and the suede texture are the perfect toppings to a perfect look.
What Is Your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “If you are always wearing bright, poppy colors in the summer, try something different. Although neutrals are associated with the fall and cooler temperatures, you’d be surprised how much you love wearing Earthy, neutral tones.”
