STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: FALLING INTO FALL

Fall is in full swing, and we all know it’s hard to let go of our summer shorts and dresses. So, why let go of it? One of my favorite things to do is to work summer pieces into the fall. Whether it’s pairing your short sleeve shirts with long pants or adding knee-high socks and a long sleeve top to a flirty skirt, there is so much room to be creative with incorporating your summer clothing into your fall wardrobe!

Here in Riverside, we’re enjoying slightly cooler temperatures that are perfect for wearing these transition outfits. In the summer, this Fashionisto paired this button-up with flat-front shorts and a pair of sandals. In order to transition it to the fall, he switched out his shorts and sandals for a pair of tan chino pants and boat shoes to tie the transition look together. When walking from class to class, this Fashionisto likes to add a pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers to protect his eyes from the sun and provide a more summer vibe during this weather transition period.

The tan color of the chino pants helps to make the outfit more fall appropriate with the darker color of the button-up while the boat shoes help to give it a more casual, summer vibe. This outfit is perfect for going to class, club meetings, and social mixers. It’s the perfect combination of put together and casual and a summery-vibe with fall colors. This pairing technique could easily be done by adding a fall flannel to a tank top and a pair of jeans for a casual outfit or throwing a fitted sweater over a button-down for a more preppy look.

My style advice of the week is to mix your summery, light fabrics with thick knits and warm, dark colors to give a fun, flirty twist on a typical fall look. Don’t be afraid to venture out of your comfort zone once in awhile and get the most out of your summer pieces! Combine different fabrics, textures, and colors for a fun look for the fall. Have fun mixing and matching different pieces from various seasons to create a new, unique look that you might not have thought to put together!
