Growing up, there was always concern if I was properly wearing white. Was it after Memorial Day and before Labor Day? White was always a summer color in my eyes. However, recently winter whites became a trend and white was not longer restricted to the warm sunny days between May and September.
Now how about summer maroon?! It does not have the same catchy tone as winter whites do, but I believe maroon deserves its debut within the summer months, too. This Fashionista wore her maroon perfectly by pairing this flowy tank top with light wash denim and black strappy sandals. The crocheted detail found on the higher neckline of this tank top doubles as a statement necklace, making this Fashionista’s top the main focus of her outfit. By mixing a darker color like maroon with light colors, this Fashionista created a warm yet breezy summer look.
Maroon is such a versatile earthy color that can be dressed up or down when paired with the right pieces. With festival season in full gear, maroon is a great color to wear whether it be this Free People wide brim fedora or a poncho from American Eagle Outfitters. On the other side of the spectrum, a Fashionista can pair a form fitting NASTY GAL dress with heels for a night out.
When thinking about what other colors to mix with maroon, the Kanye West x adidas fashion show has some spot-on examples of other earthy tones that would be appropriate to wear during the summer.
