Sometimes in life, there are days where you just want to keep things simplistic. You don’t always want to dress like the belle of the ball and deck yourself out head to toe in eye-catching embellishments. Between you and I, us good ole fashion savvy guys and gals like to throw on the closest garment from time to time and hope for the best. Some days it is 10 times easier to grab that comfy dress or that velvety soft flannel and finish the look with some sort of accessory. But…there is always a loophole and in this case, the perfect substitute for a necklace or a few rings is a hat. Honestly, there is no way that if chosen carefully, the right hat would ever break an outfit. Hats serve a higher purpose to fashion than any old hairdo or bracelet ever could. There are so many types of hats to pair with tons of outfits and they can make any look go from drab to fab.
This Fashionista’s outfit went from comfy to cute with one simple step, the addition of a hat atop a heap of natural hair. Whether it’s a cool summer night or a freezing winter’s day, the inclusion of a tres chic fedora can really top (pun totally intended) an outfit off. Throwing on a hat to complete any outfit is a lazy girl law that we all need to abide by. Except when it comes to those Von Dutch trucker hats that used to be a hit back in the early 2000s. Please, myself along with many others beg the wonderful world of fashion to prevent this trend from making a comeback.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I love incorporating hats into my outfits because they’re a statement accessory that can change the mood of any ensemble! Throw on a baseball cap with shorts and a tank top for a cute sporty vibe, or wear a big floppy hat or fedora to give flair and a touch of masculinity to a pretty dress or romper. Hats can take the place of scarves and jewelry, so they take the guesswork out of accessorizing.”
