Festival season is upon us. Sigh. I sigh because, as usual, I will not be in attendance. Just because you are not physically attending doesn’t mean you need to miss out on the fun though. I, for one, will be dancing around my room in a flower crown while watching the live feeds. Or you can virtually keep up with the most influential aspect of a music festival besides, you know, the music. The aspect that has changed the way festivalgoers view crochet and flowers altogether. I’m talking about festival fashion. Festival style has had a widespread influence on the fashion world in recent years. Celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Vanessa Hudgens have turned the Californian desert into a runway. Attendees’ clothing has become just as important as the music and retailers have taken note. H&M paired directly with the Coachella music festival to design H&M Loves Coachella, a line that highlights the to-die-for aspects of festival style. So whether we are at Coachella or not, we can partake in the fashionable festivities.
Far from California, this Fashionista showed her festival colors. Denim is, has been and always will be in style. It is also one of the main fashion staples at Coachella. She wore a light washed denim vest with matching shorts. Many people turn away from trying the double denim trick but if done properly this look can be a real head turner. This Fashionista definitely turned heads. Beneath her vest she wore a sheer blouse with lace detailing around the neck. Lace is another festival “do”. The detail is popularly worn due to its elegance and ability to breathe. It can get hot out there in the desert and lace allows for some air circulation.
Around her neck lays a unique piece. From a chain hangs a large animal tooth wrapped with wire. The necklace stands out and adds a raw and edgy dynamic to her look. This Fashionista’s tan boots are comfortable and stylish. Festivals call for lots of walking and standing so wearing sensible (and stylish) shoes is a smart idea.
For those who have to miss out on Coachella, there is always next year. Until then we can continue to embrace festival fashion wherever we are.
