Hello, fellow Fashionista/o’s from here in NYC! Writing to you from my dorm room wishing I was still being treated like a queen in my own bed at home. Wasn’t Thanksgiving break a tease? Time to push through the remainder of what’s left of my first semester of college. It’s already been quite the journey, and the best is yet to come!
Luckily the cold hasn’t been too harsh on us here (yet) and it is still particularly warm out here in NYC for the most part. Anyways, since over the past couple weeks no one has really started breaking out the winter jacket, sweaters, ponchos, and capes have been frequent flyers amongst the university’s campus.
Now that it is finals season, everyone here still manages to look their best, but there are secret hacks to make it look like you spent three hours in the morning getting ready instead of waking up at your desk twenty minutes before class because you spent all night on your project. Ring a bell for anybody?
Having pieces in your wardrobe that make a statement are key to making it look like you spent more time in the morning getting ready than you did. Having printed or even solid pieces like a poncho bring together an outfit that is really cozy and offer a cool facade for the Fashionista/o. This Fashionista has a multi-colored tribal inspired poncho that she paired with a cropped sweater, some dark-washed jeans, her favorite sunglasses, and some light pink slip-on sneakers.
A quick change for the cold winter months would be swapping the flared bottom jeans for skinny jeans and wearing cute boots and/or booties instead of slip-ons. You’d also be crazy not to add a heavy winter coat, New York winters are freezing! Layering is key when it is brisk out there! Bulk up on everything from mittens to cute hats for the winter—it’s needed!
Hope you all have a #RAD ending to your fall semesters! It has been nothing short of a pleasure writing for CollegeFashionista for my second semester in a row and I’m already itching to start the third!
