STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Flipping For Flannels

It’s a staple of any ‘90s-inspired look, synonymous with festival style and a cold weather must-have. What am I talking about, Fashionistas? The Flannel. This wardrobe multitasker has crawled into the depths of the trendiest closets and won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

What I love most about the trend is its reminiscence of ‘90s grunge. Flannels make me want to pile on the black eyeliner and slip into some Converse and a beanie. The great thing is, however, is that there are a million other ways to style them. What about with denim cut-offs and a crop top? Perfection. Knotted at the waist over a lacy bohemian dress? Lovely. They’re easy, comfortable and pair well with almost anything. Who couldn’t love them?

This Fashionista modernized the flannel a bit in her styling. The button-up almost feels a bit preppy when paired with pristine dark wash jeans. I love that she pulled similar colors and tones from the plaid within all of her accessories: that cream infinity scarf goes wonderfully and adds a touch of coziness as well. The black wedged booties elevate (literally!) the look so it’s a bit less casual and more playful. Those rings are also seriously stunning and bring back the edge that is so classically associated with the flannel. It all comes together in a way that is streamlined, but still evokes a bit of gorgeous grunge.
