Ever since I was a child, I was fascinated by the blossoming of flowers come springtime. There was something magical and refreshing in seeing vibrant colors peppered everywhere in nature. As soon as I was old enough to go shopping and choose my own clothing, I made a point to select at least a few flowery elements; they seemed to invigorate my wardrobe and to add a feminine touch to outfits.
I was mostly inclined to choose dresses, since they were easy to combine with other solid colored elements that would balance the playfulness of floral prints. A neutral color blazer or cover combined with a bag with same shade shoes were sure ways to complete a flowery outfit. Since there is beauty in the details, simple and feminine jewelry were a nice complement.
While perusing fashion magazines, I learned a few golden rules about florals. Large floral prints are mostly prescribed to thin or sporty figures since they can bring into focus certain body parts, small floral prints are excellent for curvier shapes and a flared cut would benefit ladies with wider hips.
This Fashionista’s look stayed faithful to all of the above rules. The dress’s cut was smartly chosen for her figure and the accessories she chose complemented the dress nicely. A matching black tote bag and black shoes provided structure to the outfit and a simple pearl necklace added a feminine vibe. She added a final touch to her look by wearing a confident smile that brought attention to her and her outfit.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I feel comfortable in colorful and playful pieces because it brings out my happy personality. I hope my floral dress will help the sun pierce this rain!”
