Hey, Fashionistas/os! As we approach a new season, we are starting to see many new trends arising for fall 2015. Some of the biggest trends we’ve seen so far are mustard yellows, burnt oranges, flared jeans, belled sleeves and platform shoes—the ‘70s are officially back, baby, and in a big way.
This week’s Fashionista, found strolling around the Sacred Heart campus, has got the right idea when it comes to up-to-date trends, and is perfectly rocking the contemporary twist on 1970s fashion.
Our Fashionista sports a casual, black and white striped jumpsuit that has a cropped, wide leg. The wide leg is a major component of ’70s fashion, as well as the stripes, which only add to the effect. She accessorizes her one-piece attire with simple yet bold and chic gold jewelry. Her necklace is a solid gold color but delivers spunk and personality with its intricate shape and size, and her dangly earrings correlate perfectly with her ‘70s theme. Her shoes are perfectly fitting for the outfit: black ankle-strap sandals with a thick, wooden heel. The thick wooden heel is another strong component of 1970s styles. Finally, our Fashionista completes the outfit with a gray python fold-over clutch. This adds a contemporary touch to the look and is an interesting combination with the jumpsuit. The gray snakeskin against the black and white stripe practices the modern trend of mixing different patterns.
This year, it’s all about the ‘70s, so if you want to look chic and on-trend this fall, catch up on your That ‘70s Show re-runs and follow some advice from this Fashionista:
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I’m loving the ‘70s looks right now. It’s definitely going to be big this year. I love a wide-leg pant with a pair of heels or platforms because they’re so comfortable and flowy yet still so chic. Luckily, the wide-leg is in this year, and it’s so ‘70s.”
