STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: House of Blues

Growing up in Florida taught me a few things. First: invest in a quality anti-frizz serum because the constant humidity and bipolar thunderstorms don’t care if you just straightened or curled your hair. Second: always carry an umbrella. Always. Third: when it finally does get cold (anything below 60 degrees), pull out all of your faux fur, leather and every long coat, because you won’t get that opportunity for another 51 weeks. Fourth: transitioning into each season is difficult because it’s typically summer weather all year round. So what’s a Fashionista/o supposed to do? Having a signature look that can be used all year with just the change of a color scheme is key.

This fall is big on colors like navy and steel grey. In epitome of luxury and sportswear culmination into everyday attire, I spotted this Fashionisto on my campus. For him, a signature fall transition look in this blazing weather is a polo or V-neck T-shirt with some chino shorts and a nice pair of loafers. His entire ensemble shows class and planning, but is simple to put together. He sported a white Burberry polo that can be dressed more casually, like the Fashionisto did here, or dressed up with dark denim jeans, a nice cardigan and brown oxfords. His navy shorts are the perfect length to don for anyone – not too long and baggy, but not too short to question if they shrunk. He accessorized perfectly with a simple steel Burberry watch and blue Louis Vuitton loafers. The class level is way, way, way up.

If you live in an area where the weather makes it difficult to transition your wardrobe between seasons, go for utilizing the colors of the season and incorporate them into your weather appropriate ensemble.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I think a casual but put together look is prime for any day. It can be worn to class, out to lunch, or even while running errands. The look is versatile and easy to wear.”
